1.1 GHz Pentium III to Be Released
By C. Rogers, 08.00

As reported by inside news sources, a 1.1 GHz Pentium III will be announced very soon. This chip, which will be launching without opposition from AMD, will allow Intel to once again claim the elusive "speed crown".

This new chip, "branded" at 1.1 GHz, will actually have an actual 1,133 MHz clock speed (133 MHz x 8.5).

This may allow Intel to possibly have a slight performance-edge over the Athlon when `Number Two` announces its 1.1 GHz counterpart. The reason for this being, the Athlon will run at a true 1.1 GHz-- ultimately amounting a 33 MHz deficit to Chipzilla. Will this allow Intel a true "lead" in terms of performance?

We'll have to see when the benchmarks come out...
