RealNetworks Software Introduced for Red Hat Linux

By C. Rogers, 04.00

As Linux continues its rise in popularity, it's only natural that major software companies will be jumping on the penguin bandwagon. The latest proof of this fact is RealNetworks-- the creators of the well-known RealMedia format. RealNetworks has announced they will bring their standard software to Caldera Red Hat Linux, as well as support all popular image extensions within their software.

The product will be known as RealSystem G2-- a combined software package of RealServer 7.0 and RealPlayer 7. There are free and enterprise versions of the software; both of which can be be purchased from the company's website. The enterprise version of the software should also be in retail locations within a short period of time.

Although this is product one step forward in Red Hat's favor, it would be in RealNetworks' best interests to release software for the whole Linux community. There are more Linux "flavours" out there other than Red Hat's version.
