The situation in Lhasa, where violence has been reported between the
Tibetans and Hans, seems concerning. Hopefully, both sides can
co-mingle through this struggle. With Tibet as a semi-autonomous
province, there's no reason why both groups can share government
representation.

Here's my capture of it from the cloudy San Francisco skies:
It's days like this where I wish we were at Deming. This time of

skies--virtually guaranteed!!!
I love you, Sweetie!!! This will be our greatest summer ever.

Hello world! You may notice something new at the top left-hand corner of the screen. The Worldwide Railway Library (WRL) has been added to the Pictures drop-down box. I plan to "scrub and clean" the WRL interface once my Worldwide Highway Library project completes.
Geez... Let me tell you... Web coding is a hair-pulling experience! I'm in the middle of updating 2,500+ different subpages for the highway gallery. That said, the project is also rewarding at the same time, since it represents a long-term investment in a more-polished product.

My best friend Eric lived w/ us for the several weeks. It was damn fun too! After hours of playing Guitar Hero III, Super Mario Bros. and chugging down beer and scarfing pizzas, he'll be moving his self-owned business to where we grew up. Check out his site http://www.53mp.com if you need professional web design services. The dude's got his craft down cold.

Whenever I'm in the San
Francisco Bay Area, and am celebrating a road-related accomplishment, the
place to meet is Buffalo Bill's in Hayward. Those who've joined me at
BB's are a list of who's-who in the highway-photography sphere: e.g.,
Mr
Dan Peri,
Mr Andy Field and
Ms
Erica Burdoin. Just yesterday,
Eric
"Abda53" Lozaga--contributing photographer from the San Diego
area--has joined the who's-who w/ celebration of the Kentucky book:

For each of those people listed above, I'd like to extend a huge thanks for
their support as I juggle the highway-photograpy hobby w/ the slew of (most
excellent) responsibilities that come as being a "late
20-something". Merci, danke, grazie!

Interestingly, the Wii includes a worldwide weather and news service. I'm very impressed w/ the global weather service. Check out this video that shows the Wii crossing the globe. This'll definitely be a worthwhile learning tool for our future world traveler. No, we're not pregnant yet. :-)

Wow! Salt water
might be the next fuel for future generations. A researcher
unintentionally came across this discovery while running certain
radio-frequencies through the liquid. Should the technology become
large-scale and more efficient, we may see small appliances, cars, and
maybe power-plants employ this technology. Imagine a generator at your
local power-plant running on salt water steam. An article on the
technology can be found here.

30 cents or 3 pesos. By foot, that's how much it costs to cross the international border at El Paso-Juárez. It's a nominal fee, so I had no qualms dropping change into the American government's bucket before crossing the bridge. At that point, I had 20 dollars. To soak up some Mexican culture, that money was divided between lunch, a small bracelet for myself, and some jewelry for Erica. With one dollar left, I gave it to a crippled elderly man in need. In Mexico, a dollar translates to a ten pesos and garners someone a quick bite to eat.
Ok, I'm ready to cross back into the US. Little did I know, the same 30 cent/3 peso toll applied here too. With no money left in the pocket, I began to scramble. Fortunately, a Mexican woman saw my circumstance and offered me 3 pesos. Many Americans are assumed to be the ones w/ the money. Not knowing that woman's financial situation--not that it's any of my affairs--the gesture was appreciated. Fact was, she was the one w/ the money. She got me back home.

Unfortunately, our friends at Wikipedia have directed readers to a Windows virus. Now, it's not entirely Wikipedia's fault that it was put there; yet an anonymous editor put it on. The story behind this can be found here. Recent actions like this put a discouraging light on the use of open-source communities. Truly, if there were qualified editors that pre-approved content, that would help prevent the outbreak of virii to non-suspecting users. And no, users are not "stupid" as some open-sourcers would like others to believe. They're simply there to use an encyclopedia for their research needs. Proprietary solutions do have their benefits, as one can see. :-)

Some of you have noticed my departure from MySpace. Why, you might ask? Simply put, it served its purpose. The social-networking site helped me live out some of my repressed desires from adolescence. You know, talking about "nothing" topics and showing off neat pictures of yourself. Expressing yourself through music. MySpace gave me a fresh look at things so I could dye my hair bleach-blond for once in my lifetime, "shoot the bull" w/ others from the past, and help promote this website at the same time. Fact is, it really cut into my productivity in other daily activities. Plus, those desires went fulfilled relatively quickly, so there was nothing left to do. It was a positive experience, but now it's time to move on. Yeah, I'm back to being a brunette again ;)

February 25, 2006 Last weekend, Erica and I
headed out to Las Vegas to see my aunt and uncle. It turned out to
be heaps of fun. Before we headed back home, we visited the Forum
Shops at Caesar's Palace. Can you believe there is a three-story FAO
Schwarz there? While she and I were inside, the top floor had
bean-bags on the floor and there was a plasma-screen presentation of Return of the
Jedi. It's neat to see the
American media referring to Torino, Italy by its local name. There
is an English bastardisation for the location, "Turin", which no
longer seems to be used in the American media. Canada, generally
speaking, still refers to the city as Turin. January 06, 2006 Happy New Year! Gas
prices have dropped more recently. It's not uncommon to find gas in

Rest in peace to Pope John Paul II. Religion and politics aside, this man was a patriot for peace, and was well-able to intermingle between many different styles of thought and culture--and by adopting each of the two, had a great sense of worldliness. In many respects, he was a great out-of-the-box thinker.
Last week, I had muscle spasms in my neck & shoulders from a bad-night's sleep (i.e., being on a flimsy couch). Muscles in the right region of my neck were stretched, and by morning, pain made it impossible to move my head downwards or to the right. Over the course of the next day, my torso leaned to the right to compensate for the pain.
Since then, I've spent time readjusting my torso (including neck) to proper upright position, but its been really painful. Around the clock pain-killers helped a bit--since yesterday though, I've been off these altogether.

Although the baseball season has been under way for a while now, I haven't been having too much enthusiasm for it... Reason--both the A's and Giants are sucking. ...Though, it is fun to watch and hear about Bonds hitting more home runs... If he can stay in good physical condition for the next few years, he may break Hank Aaron's 755 HR mark.

Calrog.com now hosts its own discussion forum! The main objective of this forum is for individuals (like you!) to exchange highway travel experiences, and at the same time learn new travel concepts from others. ...Hey, don't be shy about discussing your favourite highway-shield or drag of road! :)
There is also a "General Discussion" forum for any other topics you'd like to discuss. Check it out! http://forums.calrog.com
In other news, the GeForce 6800 was recently released! This graphics card shows substantial frame-rate and anti-aliasing improvements over the Radeon 9800XT. If wishing to read up, take a peek at the Anandtech link under "Tech News".

Once in a great while, a small handful of a population will try to determine what is socially "right" and "wrong". In many essences, this is great--this ensures that everyone can give their opinions, and have their voice heard. But if a minority of individuals has similar viewpoints, and wishes to firmly generalize their value system as society's de-facto standard, it begs the question of whether they believe everything he or she really thinks is right--it may imply that he or she desires individual and/or ad-hominem authority.
More recently, the FCC and major radio-stations have been making efforts to determine what is "decent" and not for radio and television. The term "decent"--a very subjective, broad term, can have different meanings from one person to the next. For example, a nude image may seem "indecent" to some members of public, while others may see it as "who cares, it's nature?". Also, some may agree nudity is acceptable to a certain extent, and not in others. In an open democracy like America, all these viewpoints are valid. In principle, censorship inherently blocks many individuals' "freedoms of expression" from being exercised. We Americans, as voters, have the right to speak our individual opinions, in public or private. If one disagrees, you have the right to disapprove in public fashion--but it is irresponsible to shut off other's opinions from being exercised--simply because some believe these are "wrong".

The Offspring has a new song called "Hit That"; it has the same awesome slapstick-style as their previous hits (like, "Original Prankster" and "Why Don't You Get a Job?"). I'm looking forward to downloading this track, once released next month.

After a year of hype, the Athlon 64 has finally been released! Although 64-bit computing is not necessary for today's computing needs, it essentially "lifts" memory usage restrictions for the future. Today's 32-bit processors can only handle up to 4 GB of memory, whereas 64-bit processors easily surpass this. Areas where 4+ GB of memory can help with are real-time DVD video editing, and multi-tasking with other programs like Adobe Premiere.

A new look has been designed for this site. There is now a smoother design, and the color layout is more friendly with the eyes :).
This is a project in the works--right now, the design is limited to the main page. Soon, all subpages will have a similar look.
As always, your input on this site is always welcome.

Wow, there has been a lot of "hot" topics in the news recently. The "hot" refers to the warmer-than-expected summer temperatures... Western Europe is seeing 100+ degree temperatures for the first time in recorded history. While London is just a few degrees shy of Paris or Geneva, the combination of hot days and ever-present humidity are making things unbearable.
Yesterday's power outages in New York City and Toronto have shut down quite a few air conditioners. Both of these cities rely on cool air during arid summers, and going almost one day without was surely a challenge.

I'll be spending July in Europe. My friend Dan and I will visit Ireland, the UK, and Switzerland. European culture contrasts from America's, and experiencing it will be awesome... (A couple kegs here, a couple kegs there, heh heh). This trip is going to kick ass.

AMD released the Opteron processor earlier this week. This CPU is the first of its kind-- it has the ability to handle both 64-bit and 32-bit code. This should help AMD bolster market share in the server market. The desktop version, called Athlon64, is scheduled for a late summer release.

In the several years we

encouragement to stick with it helped us sail through rough waters.
Looking back, it was
really an honor for Father Mr Garcia to consider me his "all-star"
altar boy. We served several weddings, hundreds of masses church

Apparently, CalTrans (the California Department of Transportation) has forgotten to decommission an overhead sign in downtown Oakland. If traveling down Eastbound Interstate 580 (about one mile southeast of the CA-24/I-980 interchange), there is an overhead with a US 50 sign. ...Thinkin' of dusting off the camera this weekend!

Some cowards decided to break into my vehicle early Wednesday morning. How juvenile it is to steal a person's backpack and study materials... But to then steal a garage door opener--that crosses the line. Rest assured, there will be no entry into this house, as it has been disabled. My family's security will not be put at risk.
To those whom committed this crime (and I'm probably not their only victim): Have fun now... If never caught for your acts, you will meet fate in your afterlives.

SimCity 4 came out on Tuesday. It seems to be more complicated than SimCity 3000, and should be a lot more challenging. Awesome.
Thanks goes out to the big man upstairs. For me, it's been a roller coaster of a week-- His guidance has been an inspiration during the rough spots.
My 4-month old nephew Vincent is getting thicker and darker hair. He's gonna be one handsome brown-haired lad.

After living on a dial-up connection for the past few months, I really didn't use my PC all that much. To make things worse, my former DSL carrier tried to gauge $100 a month for a clumsy 144 kbps connection.
Everything changed for the better on Friday. A new DSL carrier is charging half the price, and I'm getting about 1100 kbps now. Come to papa...
